Major elements of the diner set included the full stage brick wall and painted faux linoleum floor.
Due to the closeness of the audience, the brick had to both look and feel real. I used a custom template to spread brick "goop" in pattern.
A finished section of brick, with black and grey paint treatment and graffiti.
When installed, the brick panels spanned about thirty feet across the entire space.
Faux formica panels with a trompe l'oeil peeling corner. Texture painted to match the real formica counter top.
The floor was painted with rag rollers in layers. Then we measured and taped the alternate squares so the black ones could be filled in.

The brick wall can be seen through windows and in the "alley" stage right.
